The first Corvettes (C1) were produced from 1953 to 1962. Fondly referred to as the solid axle Vettes. By the time 1962 rolled around the 327cu.in. V8 with fuel injection allowed the Corvette to become a sports car in every sense of the word. New for 1962, the 327cu.in. engine put out a robust 360hp. (RPO 582) in fuel injected form. This motor is the heart of this Corvette, a far cry from the origional blue flame six cylinder engine found in the early Vettes. With a curb weight of only 3080lbs. the fuel injected Vette could reach 60mph in only 5.9 seconds. The 62 Vette featured a blacked out grill, quad headlamps, and a rear-end treatment that was carried on to the next generation of String Ray Corvettes.

This Corvette was fully restored approximately three years ago. The car is absolutely stunning. Every component looks "as new" or better. The restoration was done to a very high standard: all areas of the vehicle be it mechanical, frame and cosmetics have been fully addressed. The Tuxedo Black paint is in perfect condition, with a brand new car luster. The (smoke free) interior is outstanding as well, showing negligable wear. Mechanically, this fuel injected Vette runs like a dream (should I say scalded cat) with the engine, transmission, and rear end in perfect running order. 

There were approximately 600 Fuel Injected Corvettes produced in 1962. Factor in the Tuxedo black paint and that number drops considerably. With the exception of some Keith Collins floor mats and a premium sound system which does not touch the intregity of the vehicle, this Fuelie is completely stock. This matching numbers Corvette is without question one of the most desirable of the (C1) first generation Corvettes, an important part of Corvette's history, and ready to enjoy on cruise nights. This highly collectable classic Corvette will only continue to appreciate and would be a great addition to any car enthuiasts collection.
